Legal Challenge Update, the Follies and Havana Night

News on the Legal Challenge

On Thursday, January 13th, Friends of Lansdowne lawyer Steven Shrybman filed a motion with the court to compel the City of Ottawa to disclose key financial documents about the Lansdowne Partnership Plan and to seek an order prohibiting the city from seeking costs against the applicants. A date for hearing has not yet been set. See the press release Friends of Lansdowne Challenge the City on Lack of Disclosure at http://www.letsgetitright.ca/news-and-media/press-releases/260.

This week we will be releasing important evidence on the financial credibility of the Lansdowne scheme from municipal tax expert Harry Kitchen and investigative accounting firm, Rosen and Associates. Stay tuned.

Let's Sell Out the Mayfair!

On Saturday, Feb. 5th at 4 p.m. the Mayfair Theatre will host the Lansdowne Follies. This will be a unique blend of entertainment and information, featuring internationally acclaimed singer/songwriters Lynn Miles and Ian Tamblyn, and Giller award winner Elizabeth Hay not to mention the Friends of Lansdowne's terrific lawyer, Steven Shrybman. Other delights include a medieval spoof of the Lansdowne process and a surprise opening number. All proceeds go to support the Lansdowne legal challenge.

Our objective is nothing less than a packed house at the Mayfair. This would send a very strong message to both the city and the media. Please help make this happen by buying a ticket and urging those you know to do likewise. Tickets cost $30 and are available at Compact Music, 785-A Bank St.; the Ottawa Folklore Centre, 1111 Bank St.; and the Mayfair Theatre, 1076 Bank St.

Havana Night in Old Ottawa South

Another fundraiser for the Lansdowne Legal Challenge will take place on Saturday, January 29th at the Old Firehall Community Centre at 260 Sunnyside. Organized by the Old Ottawa South Community Association, Havana Night will feature the trio of Caridad Cruz (vocals/bongos), César Ricardo (vocals/guitar/bass) and Israel Martinez (guitar/vocals). Caridad Cruz has performed at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival, Ottawa Bluesfest, NAC's Fourth Stage, Casino du Lac Leamy Festival of Sound and Light, and Canada Day celebrations at Major's Hill Park. So come on out and enjoy a hot night in a cold month for a great cause! All proceeds go to the Friends of Lansdowne legal challenge. Tickets are $35, available online at www.oldottawasouth.ca or in person at the community centre.

We Need Your Ongoing Support

Our fundraising is going well, but as the case gets more complicated, we continue to need support. Please donate online or send a cheque to Friends of Lansdowne, c/o Ted Lupinski CA, 137 Second Ave, Suite 2, Ottawa, K1S 2H4.

Thanks for your support.
