Friends, We have three things to bring to your attention. Glebe Art Show The Glebe Fine Art Show has a Lansdowne theme this year. Thirty artists have produced works inspired by "The Spirit of Lansdowne" and there are many wonderful works showing the Aberdeen Pavilion and views from the Rideau Canal. Go enjoy the art, vote for your favourite and perhaps purchase one as a memento of your involvement in the effort to get Lansdowne Park right. The art show is on today and tomorrow, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Glebe Community Centre, 175 Third Avenue at Lyon. Monday's Meeting A final reminder too about our Grounds for Appeal meeting this Monday, September 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Assembly Room A, in the Civic Centre at Lansdowne Park. (Assembly Room A is at the front of the building facing Bank Street). This is your chance to hear first-hand about how serious and important this appeal is. This might be one of the last times we will be able to hold a public meeting at the Civic Centre. The City is spending $400 million dollars of taxpayers money on Lansdowne, but, as you know, it's going to lease the Civic Centre/Stadium facility to OSEG for $1/year for 30 years. At that point, with a private commercial enterprise controlling all the bookings, it's doubtful that any community group will be able to have access. We want to use the Civic Centre while it's still in public hands. Remember that Lansdowne Park is served by bus routes 1 & 7 and has parking available for those who come by car. With construction on Bank Street in the Glebe, it might be wise to plan a little extra time to get to Lansdowne Park and it may be easier to access the site via Queen Elizabeth Drive. We need your support You've heard the old saying, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." That's what Friends of Lansdowne supporters are like. The Ontario Superior Court rules against us, we decide to appeal and get more negative news coverage than ever before, and city council decides to rescind its policy of not seeking costs from citizens' groups who sue the city and lose. So what happens? We hear from people we've never heard from before, more new donors come forward than ever before, and they are all telling us not to give up, that they are with us all the way. This is citizen action that doesn't get scared off just because things get difficult. We can still get it right on Lansdowne. Please keep the donations coming. Our lawyers are working hard on our behalf and we should try to compensate them. You can donate:
